Born in St. Charles, IL, Allie Kral began playing the violin at the age of 5. Suzuki trained, she learned by ear. All of her time was filled with rehearsals, performances and lessons for Orchestras, The Elgin Youth Symphony, The DuPage Youth Symphony, Vivaldi Strings Tour Group, quartets, trios, giving and taking private lessons, etc. She took first place in every school district competition she ever played in, and won first place in Geneva, Illinois’ Swedish Days Competition. Allie was first chair for a number of years in her high schools chamber orchestra, and was a member of a small handful of choirs as well. Summers were spent at music camps all over the country. This girl lived and breathed violin.

In her college years, Allie was a violin performance major at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. It was there when she picked up bluegrass with her first band, Green Mountain Grass. Her love for bluegrass took her back to Chicago, where she learned improvisational skills with her decade long dedication to the band Cornmeal. She found jam bands through the Grateful Dead, and was attracted to the improvisational nature of the music. Allie lived and breathed to perform live, and enjoyed the fact that every performance was fresh and unique. Now residing in Webster Groves, MO, Allie has played internationally on thousands of stages with the biggest names in country, bluegrass, jam, classical, rock, and more.
